MEMPHIS, Tenn.– An East Memphis community was rattled after a postal worker found two men shot to death.

It happened at a home in the 1800 block of Tahiti Lane.

“I don’t know what happened but it’s been really bad lately,” said 16-year-old Wendy Delgado.

Delgado watched helplessly on Wednesday as her neighborhood turned into a crime scene after a postal worker found two men dead at a home.

“This here is stunning to me. It’s a shock,” added another neighbor who watched police work through the crime scene tape.

Police said the bodies were discovered around 12:30 p.m.

Police released few details surrounding their death and no information about the killer.

Translating for her mother, Wendy said she heard the chaos around 11: 30 Tuesday night.

“She heard someone crying out for help, screaming for help and she heard about six gunshots,” she said.

Police have not said when they believe the shootings happened.

The Delgado’s live so far down the street from the homicide they thought someone else had called 911.

Witnesses said two brothers live in the home.

“I got to know them. I became their ride. They didn’t have a vehicle or anything,” said neighbor Steve Garriott.

Wendy said her parents moved here from Mexico nearly 20 years ago to start a new, better life for their family.

However Wendy said the violence is getting to be too much.

“All this is happening real fast and everyday, and I mean, I just don’t know what to think anymore.”

Since Saturday WREG has counted 10 death investigations. The crimes ranged from stabbings to shootings, including the death of a Memphis Police Officer.

Wendy’s praying things somehow things can turn around in the community.

“We’re all scared but I just hope things get better.”

Police said if you have any information contact their office or CrimeStoppers at 901-528-CASH.

WREG asked Memphis Police if anything is being done to curb the violence or if there is anything the public can do to help out.

By email they responded:

“Manpower is diverted to hotspots throughout the city. There is a constant push to have officers in the streets to deter crime.

The public can assist us in our efforts by speaking up if they have any information relative to a crime that has been committed. In addition, the community can help by being good neighbors. If you see something out of the normal say something.”
