MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A severe thunderstorm passed through Shelby County, and it has cut power for thousands of residents.
About 4,500 MLGW accounts were out of power at the peak of the outages. That number fell to about 3,500 by the time the Severe Thunderstorm Warning expired at 4 p.m.
Each account represents one or more people.
The area is also under a Heat Advisory, and residents who lost power will likely be without air conditioning.
