Public Works is prepared to put all snow plows on the road if expected snow comes

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The city’s Public Works director said crews plan to start their operation at 11 p.m. Thursday

Public Works is prepared to put its snow plows to use if needed.

The Director of Public Works Robert Knecht said they will use all eight snow plows if the city gets the amount of snow expected.

Last year, there were only two snow plows but the city added more after it realized there was a need for additional equipment.

Knecht said if they do use the snow plows, they will focus on the major city streets.

He was asked if eight snow plows is enough for a city the size of Memphis.

“We have to make a request budgetarily to fund that so it is a challenge, you have to look at your past experiences, historically these last two years are kind of a fluke because previous years, we barely had an opportunity to need plows,” he said.

Snow plows are already in several locations.
