MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A group of moms and others demanding tougher gun laws rallied in Memphis and all over the country Sunday on the eve of the anniversary of the Sandy Hook shooting.
Monday marks three years after 20 students and six educators were killed in Newtown, Connecticut.
Orange is the color embraced by the gun violence prevention movement, and Sunday’s orange event was to remember those who died and to honor survivors.
“We advocate for evidence-based common sense gun laws to save lives and reduce gun violence,” Kristy Glassman of Moms Demand Action said.
The group specifically wants to close the legal loopholes that allow people to buy guns at gun shows and online without a background check.
