Recent terror attacks have some concerned about July 4 holiday

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Independence Day has always been a day of concern about a terror attack, but one former CIA officer said this year, there’s nothing routine about the terror alert.

“It’s very difficult because they are being radicalized in their bedrooms and in their basements,” said Michael Morell.

In the last year, Morell said agents arrested about 50 people people in the US for their connections to conspire with ISIS.

One of them was in Mississippi.

Couple that with the recent terror strikes overseas, and it’s understandable why this year’s alert is even more important.

“It’s what happens when there are 3 attacks in one day. What’s interesting about the 3 attacks we saw; One in Kuwait, one in Tunisia and one in France, is they represent ways ISIS is threatening us,” Morrell said.

The Tennessee Department of Homeland Security issued this statement Monday:

“We would like to remind law enforcement, military, security personnel, and citizens to remain vigilant and aware” and “If you see Something, Say Something.’

So far they have not received any credible threats.

Last December the I-55 bridge was listed as a possible target for terrorism, but the threat came and went without any action.

But national security experts are worried this weekend’s terror alert may not end the same.
