MEMPHIS, Tenn. — No one wants to think about having your home or car broken into or being robbed, but law enforcement said it’s important to keep a log of your jewelry, electronics, and anything else of value that you own.
“This minute is not too late,” said Shelby County Detective David Mays.
He said far too often, many fall victim to theft during the holidays and one of the hardest parts of his job is getting stolen goods back to the owners.
“It’s almost impossible for us to find that unless the burglar or criminal tells us who it`s stolen from, which most of the time they’re not going to do,” he said.
While many of you don’t do it, law enforcement said you need to have serial numbers, receipts and pictures of your valuables cataloged and ready for detectives.
To make it easier some Mid-South agencies suggested using Report It, a website that lets you store up to 100 items electronically and for free.
All you do is just plug in your info and pictures.
