(Tunica, MS) A North Mississippi woman has one million reasons to smile.
Patsy Sledge, a retired school principal from Senatobia, won the money from a drawing in Tunica.
On Thursday, she arrived to Tunica in style in a stretch limo to claim her prize.
“It still hasn’t hit me yet. I don’t know. It’s still a dream. I just can’t believe it’s all happening,” Sledge says.
That dream became a reality over the weekend. It all started as a normal Saturday night in front of the television. That’s when the phone started ringing.
“I looked at the caller I.D. and it said Horseshoe. I couldn’t imagine what Horseshoe wanted with me. Low and behold, they said I won the million. I was in a state of shock,” said Sledge.
The three Tunica casinos owned by Ceasar’s are holding a drawing to give away a million dollars every Saturday this month. Players get more chances to win every time they swipe their cards.
“To tell you the truth, I didn’t realize I was in the drawing,” Sledge admitted.
Now that her money worries are over, she has big plans for her new found fortune.
“I have plans to pay off some bills and do some much needed work on the house. It’s going to be well spent.”
Sledge also hopes Lady Luck will be on her side again. She wants to double her money by entering the next drawing.
“I’ll be by the phone. I may splurge and come here Saturday night!”
Sledge will receive $200,000 a year for the next 5 years. If she had been there in person, she would have received the million bucks all at once. The next drawing is Saturday night.
