ABERDEEN, Miss. — There is now a reward to find the person who shot a Monroe County deputy Monday.
A businessman started off the reward money with a donation of $1,000, and the total later grew to $4,000, WCBI reported.
Monroe County deputies did have a person of interest, but that person has been cleared.
A motorcycle driver shot Deputy Eric Sloan when the deputy pulled him over for speeding, Monroe County Sheriff Cecil Cantrell said.
Sloan was wearing a protective vest and survived the shooting. WCBI reported he has since been released from the hospital.
The suspect was described as a black male wearing a red helmet with black stripes on a red speed bike with no license plate.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. Marshals Service are also investigating the case.
