Ripley Fire Chief Suspended for Sexual Harassment

(Ripley, TN) A Mid-South fire chief is off the job after a sexual harassment claim.

Ripley Fire Chief Felix Moore has been suspended for two weeks.

The punishment was for taking part in what the city considers inappropriate behavior.

News Channel 3 learned that words got a little too friendly between the Ripley, TN fire chief and one of his female firefighters.

The city’s attorney, Steve Crain, told News Channel 3 on the phone that a woman claimed Felix Moore was calling and texting her making inappropriate comments for the last eight months.

When confronted, Moore did not deny he may have crossed the line as chief.

The board of mayor and alderman held a special meeting Monday and suspend Moore for two weeks without pay.

The harassment claim will also be noted in his personnel file.

People, like George Hallock, who know Moore are concerned about the harassment claim, “Knowing his dedication to his job and the community, it quite surprised me.”

Crain said the chief would not be available to comment, but Moore will be required to offer the victim a formal apology, “I hope the city and Felix, and the people involved can get this behind them.”
