Ripley woman arrested for leaving infant in hot car

RIPLEY, Tenn. — Charges have been filed against the woman who left an infant inside a hot car in Ripley.

Angela Williams, the baby’s aunt,  was charged with felony child neglect.

Her bond was set at $5,000 and she was scheduled to see a judge on July 10 at 8:30 a.m.

According to the Ripley Police Department, Williams went into a store and locked the 6-month-old in the car.

It’s unclear how long the baby was left alone.

Williams was taken into custody, and the baby was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

WREG was told the baby may have been dehydrated but is expected to be okay.

DCS is investigating.
