(Fort Lauderdale, FL) It’s believed rapper Rick Ross was the intended target of a drive-by shooting in Fort Lauderdale Monday.

Fort Lauderdale Police confirm Ross, aka William Roberts, was in a 2011 Rolls Royce when a gunman opened fire around 5 a.m. eastern time.

TV station WSVN reported dozens of shell casings were found and that the car crashed moments after the shooting when the driver was trying to get away. 

Ross, who was not injured, has been in Memphis recently to promote a chain of hot wing restaurants he owns.
