(Desoto County, MS) School officials in Desoto County are taking financial measures to make sure students are safe in the event a tornado touches down while they are in school.
Monday the Desoto County School Board gave approval to bids for construction at safe rooms at five schools across the county.
The schools on the list are Hernando, Horn Lake, Lewisburg, Olive Branch and Walls Elementary Schools.
The FEMA safe rooms will be able to house entire student body populations in order to protect students and faculty from approaching storms.
