SARDIS, Miss. —Authorities are investigating after a father was shot and killed by a relative on Thanksgiving evening.
Brian Kimmons was killed around 11 p.m Thursday night by his brother-in-law, Melvin Salter Jr.
Police say the two got into an argument that ended in death.
The victim’s children were reportedly nearby and saw the incident happen.
A neighbor says a loud bang got her attention on Thursday just before midnight.
According to family and friends, Kimmons was a truck driver and dedicated father who kept everyone laughing.
The neighbor says the people living in the home a few doors down were pretty quiet, and she never overheard any arguments at the address.
