School bus driver who cussed at kids put back on bus

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A school bus driver who was captured on video swearing at students after making them clear the bus, is back on the job.

The Durham bus driver was placed on administrative leave.

“Do what you going to do and get y’all *expletive* back on the bus,” the driver shouted.

Students on the bus were reportedly arguing and two of them had fought before.

The parent of a student told us the driver pulled over near Rivercrest Elementary just before 3:00 p.m.

The driver is seen telling the children to either fight or be quiet and get back on the bus.

“Either we’re going to tumble and roll or we’re going to get back on this bus and go home,” the driver yelled.

Durham released the following statement about the driver being reinstated:

“School bus drivers play a critical role in the education of our students; the job can be challenging and requires drivers to make quick decisions to protect the students entrusted in their care. The driver involved in last Friday’s incident will return to her route duties. Upon review of the incident, it is clear that she handled the potentially volatile situation as she best saw fit to keep all of the students safe. She will receive student management refresher training and will be back on route April 6th. We are very glad our driver was able to bring resolution to the issue and stop a fight from occurring. We thank the nearly 1,000 team members we have in Shelby County working every day to get students to school safely, on time and ready to learn.”
