Second person charged in Cordova murder

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Police Department has charged a second suspect in the murder of Susan McDonald, the woman who was killed in front of a home in Cordova.

According to an MPD spokesperson, Andre Bowen, 36, was charged with first-degree murder.

On Sunday, police confirmed investigators had a second person in custody but said that individual was just a person of interest at that time.

McDonald was shot and killed Aug. 1 in front of a home on Bazemore Road in Cordova.

Saturday, Anthony Olivo, 36, was charged with first-degree murder.

According to an affidavit, Olivo said he and Bowen were planning a theft when McDonald was shot.

Bowen was arrested for another crime shortly afterwards and was in jail when they identified him as a person on interest.

Olivo’s arrest came a day after McDonald’s family raised the reward money in the case to $25,000.
