MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Senatobia High School student has been taken into custody for unlawful possession of a firearm on school property, according to Senatobia Police on Friday.
On Feb. 28, at 12:20 p.m., administrators at Senatobia High School notified School Resource officers about a student suspected of having a firearm on campus.
Police say the officers and school quickly responded to the classroom of the student in question. The student was relocated and removed from his class.
A School Resource officer confiscated the firearm from the student and secured it in a safe location.
The Senatobia Police Department said that they prioritize the safety of students and staff at the Senatobia Municipal School District and that School Resource officers also treat incidents like this with the utmost seriousness and won’t tolerate such behavior on campus.
They also thanked the School Resource officers and school administration for their prompt actions and collaboration.
