MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Heavy rain fell fast across the area Wednesday afternoon, flooding the intersection at Pleasant View and Bartlett Blvd.
The lightning was everywhere.
Aloha Dunn watched as crews put out hot spots on the South Memphis home where she grew up.
It suddenly caught fire.
People we talked to believed it was struck by lightning.
“They were here doing some work on the house, renovations and the lightening did what it did and took it out,” said Dunn.
The wind played a big role too, pulling down power lines, disabling traffic lights, and leading to traffic jams and even some pretty big accidents.
A geyser popped up after a car overturned on Walnut Bend in Cordova.
It hit a fire hydrant, flooding the road and tying up more traffic.
People heard lightning strikes from Whitehaven to Raleigh.
Trees were falling left and right, some in the road, and others on top of houses in Oakland.
Poles were down on Germantown Parkway and many were left in the dark.
