MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Tornado Watch issued for parts of the Mid-South could impact your travel plans.
Some are already noticing delays at the Memphis International Airport.
If you`re planning on catching a flight out of Memphis International Airport, you should get there at least two hours early because the lines are longer than normal.
“I’m flying to Boston to see my sister and my flight has been postponed,” said Bri Nebbs.
Nebbs wasn`t prepared to hear that news.
Her flight was supposed to leave at 11:00 Wednesday morning but it was delayed by nearly two hours.
“I just want to get out of here before the bad storms comes through and hopefully we don’t have another delay in Charlotte,” she said.
Kitty Lammons is also heading to Boston, but her flight is leaving on time.
“I haven’t gotten any bad news,” she said.
“Isn’t that amazing, yes but she’s going through a different way, Atlanta, but hers hasn’t been postponed mine has been delayed,” Nebbs said.
WREG also noticed a flight to Minneapolis delayed and other flights scheduled to arrive to the airport were canceled but airport officials say most flights are leaving on time.
“We always tell our passengers check with your airline before you leave for the airport just in case,” said Glen Thomas, a spokesperson for the airport.
Thomas said on top of the weather that’s moving in, the airport is bustling thanks to the addition of new airlines.
“It is definitely going to be busier, we`ve got more destinations, in fact, 12 new flight announcements this year, we`ve added three new airlines so we definitely have more hustle and bustle this week but so far so good,” he stated.
While airports prepare for a busy week, travelers hope the weather doesn`t create any more problems.
“That’s my concern that bad weather’s coming this way. Trying to see if we can get out here before then, Nebbs stated.
