SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. — Your property taxes are going down by two cents.

Shelby County commissioners passed the measure Monday. The rate will drop from $4.13 to $4.11.

The original discussion was to lower the rate by three cents, but commissioners compromised.

Commissioners who wanted it lowered say homeowners should pay less. Opponents said the county could use that money to help people in need.
