MEMPHIS, Tenn. –Shelby County School retirees had a chance to face School Board members on Monday and tell them how the proposed cuts to their benefits would affect their lives.
The Board claimed past officials had failed to put the necessary money aside to pay for their healthcare costs.
They allegedly only paid the minimum to get by.
This Board said that can’t happen anymore as healthcare costs skyrocket, so they decided to look at anything and everything from cutting benefits for spouses to cutting some insurance plans all together.
The retirees have told WREG this has become a major concern.
