MEMPHIS, Tenn. — One person has died in a crash involving a charter school bus.
The person who was killed was driving a car that hit a utility pole at E. Shelby Drive and Millbranch.
Police identified the driver of the car as Akisha S. Bodie, 39.
The school bus was empty at the time.
It was a 2011 Freightliner Durham school bus, police said.
The car hit the bus on its front side while the bus was making a left turn onto Millbranch from Shelby Drive, police said. The car then hit a MLGW utility pole.
The bus driver, April Chrisopher, was issued a state traffic citation for failure to yield left turn resulting in death.
