Shelby County Sheriff Bill Oldham named sheriff of the year

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee Sheriff’s Association presented Shelby County Sheriff Bill Oldham with the “Sheriff of the Year” award at its conference in Sevierville on Friday.

The association selected Oldham based on his accomplishments and his dedication to helping Shelby County citizens.

“I accept it on behalf of all the hardworking men and women of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office and the citizens we serve and help to keep safe,” Oldham said.

This recognition comes in the wake of a controversy involving the training of Oldham’s chief inspector, Bob Nations.
