MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Both the Shelby County and Desoto County Sheriff’s Departments sent out an alert after they continue to receive calls reporting a local scam.
According to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, the victims are being called by someone identifying themselves as being from either Department.
The caller then tells them they missed jury duty and must pay a fine.
The victims were told if they don’t pay, they’ll be arrested.
Both Departments wanted to remind everyone they do not call people to collect fines.
