Two killed in Marshall County ATV crash

MARSHALL COUNTY, Miss. — Two people were killed in a head-on collision between two ATVs Thursday night, the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office said.

The accident happened around 8 p.m. on Sandy Ridge Road just east of Woodview Road near Byhalia. The two men were pronounced dead on the scene.

Authorities said the men were not wearing helmets.

The family identified the victims as 23-year-old Tevin Harden and 29-year-old Denorris Robinson, who is a father of five. They say the two men grew up together.

Family said no one witnessed the accident, which happened as they were celebrating the Fourth of July.

“They rode ATVs all the time. They been riding ATVs for years. It ain’t something they just started doing,” said Sammie Phillips, Harden’s uncle.

He was shocked when he heard the news his nephew had passed and said both young men were well-known in the tight-knit community.

“We’re a close family. It’s gonna hurt, it’s gonna take us a minute to get over this,” Phillips said.

Family is now turning to faith to get through this tough time.

“All we do is keep looking to God to take care of us and we’ll be alright,” Phillips said.

He also sent an important message to others riding ATVs this summer: “Wear a helmet. Wear a helmet.”
