MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two people are dead after a shooting outside a Memphis Kroger store. The shooting happened at the 1212 Shelby Drive location around 5:40 Wednesday morning. Police say when Chatoya Hunter arrived to work, her husband rammed her door with his SUV. Hunter jumped out of the truck and ran as Rodriguez Hunter started shooting at her. Witnesses said she begged for her life, before being shot in the head and dying in the parking lot. When a police officer arrived, Rodriguez Hunter reportedly yelled at the officer to shoot him as he pointed his gun at the officer. Moments later, Hunter then turned the gun on himself. He later died at the Regional Medical Center. Kroger released the following statement:

It is an active police investigation and we are doing all we possibly can to assist the Memphis Police Department. The store will remain closed until the investigation is complete. Grief counselors are onsite to assist our store associates during this time. Tim Brown President, Kroger Delta Division
