MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis police are investigating after a shooting victim was transported from the Oak Court Mall on Thanksgiving.
The victim told police he and his cousin were walking through the mall when he spotted an attractive woman. He said he looked at her but didn’t approach or say anything, and kept on walking. Several minutes later, the group that the young woman was with reportedly got into a fight with the two men.
An officer saw the groups arguing and told all of them to leave. After they were out the front doors, the officer said he heard gunshots. He ran outside to find the victim, Matthew Morgan, had been grazed by a bullet.
Morgan told police he returned fire at the gunman. He was taken into custody and charged for unlawful possession of a firearm.
The suspects who opened fire on the man were reportedly in a white Infinity car. They were gone by the time police arrived on the scene.
