GERMANTOWN, Tenn. — Just hours after a chaotic situation in Village Square Plaza it was business as usual at the Old Navy Saturday night.

“I was like in Germantown? Shots?”

But it was difficult for Kacey Lloyd and Zac Clark to continue working in their tanning business right next door to the store.
They said it was a busy day in the plaza filled with holiday shoppers. The two were working inside when they noticed a car speeding through the parking lot.

“It zoomed out and the cops were immediately behind it. He flicked on his lights and his sirens and they just flew past,” said Lloyd.

According to police, it all started after they received a shoplifting call around 4 p.m. from the store located in the 7700 block of Poplar Avenue in Germantown.

Once officers made the scene they saw the three suspects get into a silver four-door sedan and tried to stop them. In the process, one of the responding officers became entangled in the door and was dragged by the driver at a high rate of speed from the scene.

Germantown police confirmed the officer fired his weapon before falling from the vehicle.

Lloyd and Clark heard the shots and couldn’t believe it seeing how it was mid-afternoon. They said they’re grateful none of their employees were outside on their break.

Police said the car was last seen fleeing westbound on Humphreys. Two of the suspects were females. A description of the driver was not released.

As for the officer, he was rushed to Germantown Methodist Hospital but is expected to be okay.
