MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Three people were transported to Saint Francis hospital following a shooting near Wolfchase Galleria Tuesday night, police said.
Police responded to a shooting call at 7 p.m. in the 2700 block of North Germantown Parkway.
At least two of the victims had gunshot wounds.
Memphis Police Department spokesperson Louis Brownlee confirmed the shooting happened outside of the Cheesecake Factory after a fight broke out inside of the mall.
Both men and women were involved and four people have been detained.
This is the last thing shoppers want to hear as they return or exchange Christmas gifts on one of the busiest shopping days of the year.
Many shoppers and mall employees had to drop to the ground for cover or barricade themselves in the back of stores when the commotion started.
“All of a sudden, we heard arguing,” said a frightened mall employee. “Once we heard arguing, we heard the people, you know, they were fighting. They were in the actual altercation. Two minutes into the altercation, about 10 shots rang out and everybody ran to different exits.”

You may remember, in 2016, almost a year to the date police had to break up ‘mobs’ at Wolfchase Galleria and Oak Court Mall.
That unfolded Dec. 27, 2016.
People called 911 that night, reporting gunshots and caused a widespread panic.
Police took several people in custody, but official say no shots had actually been fired and no one was seriously hurt.
This is an ongoing investigation.
