HORN LAKE, Miss. — An entire parking lot was completely underwater at Sutton Place Apartments in Horn Lake on Friday after heavy storms moved through the area.

“When I left for work this morning, it was like a little mini Niagara Falls coming over into our lake this morning,” said one tenant.

Tenants said a pond on the property overflows like this every time they get a heavy rain and it’s always a race to save cars.

“I’ve heard of a few people over the years who have lost cars due to the flood damage out here,” one person we spoke with said.

“Usually they’re digging mud out of their cars for days,” said another.

Some said this wasn’t even the worst they’ve seen.

“It’s actually flooded all the way up to the doors of these buildings before,” claimed a tenant.

To make matters worse, the flooding caused snakes and snapping turtles to be swept up with the water.

“I hope I don’t see any snakes, because the entire complex will know about it very quickly. I do not like snakes,” said Paula Gaines.
