COLLIERVILLE, Tenn. –Police in Collierville are investigating a smash-and-grab at the Carriage Crossing shopping center.
Four men used a sledgehammer to shatter the front door of the Buckle store and steal more than $13,000 in merchandise shortly after 1 a.m.
A security guard told police he saw a suspicious-looking vehicle near the store. He said he circled back around and saw a man run to a four-door blue Saturn and take off.
Store surveillance cameras show four men entering the store with gloves on. One suspect was reportedly carrying a screwdriver to open the cash registers.
Police say numerous items of clothing were lying both inside and outside of the store, and two cash registers had been pried open and cash was missing.
Shoppers fear the dangerous criminals are creeping into the suburbs, robbing them of their sense of security.

Ally Boersma told WREG, “I live a half mile from there, so that’s really scary, to know stuff like that is going on in Collierville.”
Boersma is one of the thousands of people who shop at Collierville Crossing every week. She and many others are alarmed that this kind of crime is making its way to their neighborhoods.
Terry Folk said, “Evidently, there’s no limits.”
WREG went into the Buckle Store and spoke to employees. They said no one was hurt, but didn’t have any comment.
We also reached out to police, but all they could tell us was they don’t have any suspects.
The store remains open despite the damage, although shoppers tell WREG they’re going to be more careful when they come to the mall after dark.
Boersma added, “My husband works nights, so that’s even scarier to know that could happen.”
But they won’t let these bad guys steal their peace of mind.
Folk said, “We have to be more alert.”
