JACKSON, Miss. — Recent state retirees will have to wait for the benefits thanks to a computer glitch.

According to the Clarion Ledger, the Public Employees Retirement System recently installed new software that appears to have a glitch in it,causing a massive backlog in the system when it comes to processing applications for retirement benefits.

The new software reportedly replaces the old system which had been in place for nearly 16 years.

That means state employees who retired in June shouldn’t expect to see their benefits until January 2016.

But rest assured, Executive Director of the Retirement System Pat Robertson said everyone would receive all of the benefits their due.
