Some Cordova High School students concerned about ‘cramped’ school bus

CORDOVA, Tenn. — Some Cordova High School students reported safety concerns to WREG Thursday, saying their school bus has been cramped recently.

“It’s just complete chaos,” said Cordova High School senior Austin Bishop.

He and classmate Trey Wilson shared pictures and videos from onboard the bus. In at least one photo, students appear to overflow into the aisle.

“I’m concerned about their well-being, and if it wrecks, what’s going to happen,” Bishop said.

Bishop said he is mostly concerned for his younger brothers, who ride the bus with him.

He said recently, his bus route changed, and there are more students onboard.

Bishop said students get on the backs of seats to make room, as more students board.

“It’s really, really cramped,” he said.

A Durham spokesperson confirmed a few drivers quit and several have been sick. The bus company admitted it has doubled up some routes.

Still, Durham said it has not exceeded the number of students allowed on each bus.
