Some Mississippi AT&T customers to receive check in the mail

JACKSON, Miss. — AT&T customers may soon be getting something strange in their mailboxes: a check from the company instead of a bill.

According to the Consumer Protection Division of the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office, they have received several calls from citizens saying they received the oddity in the mail and wanted to make sure it was legit.

According to MS News Now, more than 500,000 Mississippi consumers are expected to receive a check after it was discovered the company had placed extra taxes, fees and subcharges on users.

The company wouldn’t admit to any wrongdoing, but did agree to pay benefits to those affected.

“Because we frequently warn consumers about not cashing unsolicited checks, we want to make sure that consumers are aware of the possibility of receiving a check in this class action settlement,” said Attorney General Hood.
