The home on Severson Street holds memories that not even charcoal can taint.
Early Monday morning, a deadly fire claimed the lives of nine leaving the neighborhood reeling with disbelief.
“I used to spend the night over there. It’s a big blow. It’s like a big part of the neighborhood is gone,” said Pearline Wheeler.
For the neighborhood, the home was a beacon of light.
24 hours after the deadly fire that killed 9 people the home sits under a dark cloud
As family members work to sweep up remnants of the home, those visiting the home said it’ll never be the same.
“So different. Feels empty; it just feels empty,” added Wheeler.
Tuesday, Cars slowed down to look at the tragic scene while old neighborhood friends embraced to fight through the pain.
“When this happened it shook the whole neighborhood. It was just like a storm hit,” said Zipporah Bunting.
They said one day is just not enough for them to process it all.
