MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Southaven father was arrested after he traveled to Memphis to buy drugs with his 7-year-old son in tow.

Justin Sexton was charged with child abuse and neglect along with possession charges.

Detectives with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office were staking out an apartment in the 6800 block of Watergrove Drive for drug activity when they saw Sexton knock on the door and enter the premises.

When the detectives pulled Sexton over after the deal, they found two grams of marijuana and a 7-year-old in the back seat.

He later told investigators he had been bringing the boy along with him to buy drugs for several months.

Sexton was taken to the Shelby County Jail where he was given a $10,000 bond.

He is scheduled to be in court again on Tuesday, October 27.

The boy was released into the care of a family member.
