SOUTHAVEN, Miss. — Police are looking for three people seen on surveillance video breaking into a jewelry store. Southaven Police said it happened at Zales on Towne Center Drive. Police say they used a sledgehammer to burglarize the store.
WREG talked with shoppers who said it makes them nervous knowing this happened at a place they shop all the time.
Southaven Police said it didn’t take long for thieves to get inside the store.
Shoppers said they’re nervous because the people accused of doing this are still out there.
“Scary really, really scary, I think it’s horrible, yeah, I buy jewelry there sometimes, I go there at least a couple of times a year,” shopper Mary Ogden said.
Southaven Police said an alarm company called them after the break in around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday.
By the time officers arrived, the thieves already got away. The front glass was broken out.
“All we know right now is just one of the displays that they actually gained entry into was a ring display, we don’t know what items were taken because, they have to do a full inventory before we know that,” said Lt. Mark Little with the Southaven Police Department.
Little said it appears the thieves got in and out of the store in less than a minute.
“For them to have to go in there and steal it and instead of pay for it like the rest of us do it just doesn’t surprise me at all,” said Little.
