MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Southeast Memphis man was indicted on reckless homicide and tampering with evidence in fatally shooting 19-year-old Octavio Dean in July 2014.
The shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. at the Alden’s Gate Condominiums. When police arrived on the scene, they found Dean with a gunshot wound to the head.
Twenty-year-old Jeremey Coleman told police that Dean must have shot himself. Coleman also told police that he cleaned and disposed of the gun.
Investigators say Dean gave them misleading and false information as they tried to solve the case.
Coleman was arrested and is now free on a $75,000 bond.
