State charges dropped for man who killed cop

Lorenzo Clark

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — State charges have been dropped against the man connected with the deadly shooting of a Memphis police officer in light of the federal indictment on similar charges.

Lorenzo Clark was charged with being a felon in possession of a gun.

While state charges against him have been dropped, the federal indictment still stands.

Police said Clark and Officer Terence Olridge got into an argument and shot at one another in their Cordova neighborhood.

Clark’s lawyers said he shot Olridge in self defense.
