(Memphis) The Tennessee comptroller sent a letter to District 6 chairman Edmund Ford, Jr., regarding the city council’s continuing budget battle.
In that letter, Justin Wilson stated, “The Council should decide the City’s priorities. If the Council does not do this, someone else may end up doing this. This budget may well be Memphis’s last clear chance to determine its own future.”
In essence, Wilson is telling the city council to balance the budget, quickly, or else the power to do so may be taken away.
To balance the budget, he says the council must make difficult decisions about the city’s finances to reduce its “outstanding liabilities.”
