MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis police are looking for the person who set several cars on fire at an auto repair shop in Northeast Memphis early Wednesday morning.
Around a dozen vehicles were damaged or destroyed outside Don Johnson’s Automotive Repair in the 5300 block of Pleasant View Road.
The owner of the business has no idea who did it or why.
“Property damage and I guess a laugh is all I can think of,” said Don Johnson.
The whole fire was captured on surveillance cameras at Expert Import next door to Johnson’s business.
The owner of Expert Import put up the cameras after someone set several of the cars on his lot on fire in July of last year. He said that arsonist struck again back in December.
In late April some people set several cars on fire at Ritz Auto Sales on Summer Avenue. In all of the fires the arsonist used gasoline and Molotov cocktails to start the fires.
Johnson believes all three business fires are related and said sooner or later someone is going to get hurt.
“I mean they’re going to keep on and going to burn somebody’s building down before it’s over with if they don’t get these guys caught soon,” said Johnson.
Memphis Police have not said if all of the business fires are connected or if they have made any arrests.
The man who started the fire at Don Johnson’s shop was seen leaving in an white, older two-door Ford Explorer. If you know anything call Crime Stoppers at 528-CASH.
