MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man charged with shooting a pregnant woman is in jail.
Travis Tillman is charged with second-degree murder, being a felon in possession of a gun, and reckless endangerment.
Prince William lives just one door over from the pregnant woman shot in the 800block of Pope. We’re told the woman and her baby are expected to be OK.
She, a 1-year-old, and a 5-year-old were all home when bullets came flying into the house two weeks ago.
Police say Tillman ran into William’s home, got a gun, and shot at the house.
William said he was in the backyard when it happened and doesn’t know Tillman.
“I don’t know him, and I don’t want to know him!” Williams said.
William said Tillman was causing trouble in the neighborhood and banging on doors moments before the shooting. He heard Tillman was angry about a parking spot.
“All I know is there was a truck out there on the street, and I heard him saying something about parking,” William said. “As far as I can see, there aren’t no god…signs saying you can’t park. It’s a free street. So, I don’t know what they were arguing about.”
The U.S. Marshals Service arrested Tillman in the 700 block of Bartlett Road.
They say they will often adopt cases from Memphis police when there is a violent fugitive involved.
“This was an appalling crime, very violent towards a pregnant lady,” Deputy U.S. Marshal Seth Bruce said. “It’s the kind of thing that we come together to do, to track these kinds of fugitives down.”
Tillman has a court appearance set for Monday.
