MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police are searching for the suspect(s) who sent a man to the hospital in critical condition Monday afternoon in the Glenview neighborhood.
According to authorities, one man was shot in the 1700 block of Holman Place near Lamar and Southern around noon. He was rushed to the Regional Medical Center for severe injuries.
Cashun Jeans said he watched the bullets fly. He said he was walking to the store with headphones in when a driver in a gold car caught his attention after sitting parked for a few minutes.
“He opened up his car door, he had one foot in and one foot out the door and once he saw the truck pull up behind him, he shot once, pow, and they shot six to seven times back at him,” said Jeans.
He said the first driver slumped over.
“He crawled out the car when I was fixing to come help him, he crawled out the car and crawled into the yard next door.”
By the time officers arrived, the suspects had already driven away from the Glenview neighborhood.
Officers on scene marked where shell casings could be found around the gold car now splattered with blood.
“We’re actively developing suspect information at this point from the witnesses,” said Lieutenant Colonel Sam Pietro with the Memphis Police Department.
Police said they’re not sure what the motive was or why the man was in the neighborhood in the first place, and neighbors said none of the people in the cars looked familiar.
“I ain’t never seen that guy or the guys in the truck,” said Jeans. “I’ve never seen them.”
The only suspect information police have released at this point is that they were possibly in a black Nissan SUV.
