POMPANO BEACH — A man is behind bars after police said he stole a BMW after trying to use his EBT card to purchase it.
According to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, 36-year-old Nicholas Jackson was declined when he tried to buy a $60,000 BMW with his credit and EBT cards.
The very next night, the car dealership was robbed.
The only things missing: sixty sets of keys and the BMW.
Jackson was arrested hours later after police received a suspicious persons call 70 miles away in Palm City.
When police arrived, they discovered the suspect didn’t have enough money to fill the tank and ran out of gas at an intersection.
He was arrested and charged with grand theft auto.
