Suspect told police he shot a man for peeping through his window

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A South Memphis man is behind bars, accused of shooting a violent sex offender.

The suspect said he started shooting because the alleged victim was a Peeping Tom, but the victim said that was not true, and he was shot for no reason.

Ronnie Albright apparently shot Christopher Deloach in the legs several times. Deloach was taken to the Regional Medical Center.

“There were so many police,” said Kimberly Cooper, who had to rub her eyes after seeing a large crime scene at her mom’s apartment at Parkway Commons on Parkway View Circle around 2 a.m.

At first, she was confused on what happened.

“I didn’t know, so I asked around, and they were telling me dude was peeping,” she said.

Albright told police his girlfriend apparently saw Deloach peeping through her bedroom window, and she’s seen him before. That’s when Albright reportedly got his gun and shot Deloach several times.

“Well, it don’t give nobody a right to shoot nobody,” Kewanzaa Ellis said. “That’s bizarre. I just moved over here.”

Some neighbors said a gun wasn’t the answer to stopping a Peeping Tom, and apparently police agreed.

Albright was booked at 201 Poplar Avenue on Friday.

Police have yet to say what he is charged with or if Deloach, a registered violent sex offender, was actually peeping.

Folks in the area are baffled by it all and don’t know who to believe. What they do know: Drama like this isn’t typical in their complex.

“It’s always been good, because I watch over these apartments. Nothing happens,” Cooper said.
