GREENVILLE, Miss. — Shannon Lamb, the suspect in the murders of two people is dead.
Lamb was wanted for killing a Delta State University professor.
Lamb is also the suspect in the murder of a woman in Gautier, Mississippi.
The university’s president announced via twitter, Lamb was the suspect in both killings, which prompted a daylong search for the suspect throughout the day Monday.
Police did say they spoke with Lamb at some point, he told officers “he wasn’t going to jail,” Gautier Police Chief Dante Elben said.
Lamb was stopped near Greenville, then ran.
Police say he shot and killed himself.
A deputy coroner confirmed Lamb is dead.
Lamb’s biography on the University’s website says he received his Ph.D. from Delta State in 2014, and has taught geography and social sciences education courses at the school.
