SOUTHAVEN, Miss. — Ten cars were broken into at a Southaven, Mississippi fire station around 5 a.m. Friday.
It happened at Fire Station No. 1 near Main Street and Highway 51. Police say at least three suspects were involved.
WREG spoke with Shane Maley, who owns Top Dollar Pawn behind the fire station. His security cameras caught the incident on video. In the footage, you see a white SUV pull onto the lot. Two men get out and roam from car to car for roughly 15 minutes.
At one point, one of the thieves appears to break the window of a red sedan and dive into the vehicle.
“They definitely had nerves of steel,” Maley said.
He says it’s sad to see something like that happen to anyone let alone first responders.
“First responders, police officers, people of that sort, we hold them to a higher standard because they save people’s lives,” Maley said, “They shouldn’t have to worry about their car while they’re sitting at work.”
Investigators haven’t said what was taken from the vehicles but police did post pictures of two suspects and the white SUV on social media.
One suspect is described as wearing all black clothing with off-brown or green shoes, while the other is described as wearing orange, black and light blue pants with a white stripe down the side.
Police describe the SUV as an early model Chevy or GMC Suburban.
