Three dead, including suspect, after standoff situation in Helena-West Helena

HELENA-WEST HELENA, Ark. — Helena-West Helena police say a suspect is dead after an hours-long standoff.

The suspect shot and killed two people in Helena-West Helena on Tuesday afternoon. The Helena-West Helena police chief said the victims – Christina Fulmer and Deanna Thomas Banks – were found dead in the front yard of a residence on North Washington.

As officers approached the home authorities said Raymond Lewis Williams, Junior came outside with a weapon. He then barricaded himself inside the home.

The SWAT team and Arkansas State Police tried to make contact with Williams throughout the evening, but eventually tear gas was deployed inside the home forcing Williams to come outside. That’s when authorities said he opened fire on officers. Williams was shot and killed.

Autopsies will be performed on all three individuals to determine the cause of death.
