MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The company that provided the city with body and dash cameras is making headlines again.
According to a lawsuit filed by Digital Ally, Inc., TASER International, Inc. bribed officials in numerous cities in order to secure the contract for their police departments.
The Kansas City Business Journal reported the lawsuit alleged the company were using unfair business practices in Albuquerque, N.M.; Fort Worth, Texas; Los Angeles; Memphis, Tenn.; New Orleans; San Francisco; San Diego; Spokane, Wash.; Salt Lake City; and Wichita, Kansas.
In a release on its website, Digital Ally said,” We could not stand idly by while TASER improperly interferes with the marketplace for law enforcement cameras. The questionable actions TASER has taken in shutting out competition and procuring no-bid contracts hurt both the taxpayers and the law enforcement agencies by wasting money and depriving the agencies of the best possible technology.”
