MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Investigators from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation are in Raleigh looking into a deadly shooting involving Memphis police officers.

A MPD spokesperson says officers were called to the 3400 block of Dillard Road around 9 p.m. Wednesday — after a woman reported that her son was armed with a shotgun.

When officers arrived, police say the man pointed the gun at officers. The officers, fearing for their safety, then shot the man.

The man was initially taken to the Regional Medical Center in critical condition but he later died.

MPD called in the TBI to investigate the case — per an agreement with the agency to handle all deadly officer-involved shootings.

So far, the names of the officers involved have not been released.

Police confirm they have responded to calls at the same home twice in the last year, once for a hang up call and once for an abandoned vehicle,
