TIPTON COUNTY, Tenn. — The TBI is investigating an overnight shooting in Covington that killed two teenagers and sent another victim to the hospital.

Police identified the deceased victims as 18-year-old Christavian Toomes and 18-year-old Isaiah Mccrory.

According to Tipton County Chief Billy Daughtery, the shooting call came in just before 2 a.m. Tuesday morning from Turner Field Road and Leigh’s Chapel Road.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation was working to process the scene Tuesday. According to their initial investigation, the shooting victims were three males, and the one survivor was sent to a hospital in Memphis.

Brian Collins was driving by and saw crime tape wrapped around a home, as several deputies searched and pulled a truck from the driveway.

“There’s no safe place anymore. The days of locking the doors and leaving the windows open at night – those days are over,” Collins said.

Yoshida Taylor saw investigators combing the scene.

“I know the situation they’re in, because I lost my brother 12 years ago to the same problem,” Taylor said.

Taylor moved out of Covington to escape violence.

“Everyday in Covington there’s a shooting. Every other week there’s a murder.”

Police are working around the clock to determine the motive behind all of this.
